Who we are

Developing countries like Indonesia are characterized by extreme contrasts, especially regarding the available ressources. Only a small percentage of the population benefit from the economic growth and some regions are still strongly underprivileged. As in many cases, the children are the ones suffering most from poverty. However, a proper education would be the most promising means to escape from the poverty gap in the future.

Against this background we decided to found „Education for Indonesia e.V“ back in the year 2007. The primary goal of our organization was to improve the education situation of children from poor families and neighborhoods in Indonesia. According to the theme „Education – a give and take“ our students are trying to give back to the community in Bali and the neighboring regions.
Our organization is structured as follows:

  • The head office in Germany consists of our 3 founders who coordinate and control all activities.

  • Additionally we regularly employ one intern in Bochum who supports us taking over every-day administrative tasks.

  • Two teams of students in Bali who plan, coordinate and document the projects in the areas 1) education and 2) environmental sustainability. These teams consist of german students who spend a semester abroad at Udayana University in Denpasar (International Business Studies Network Programms , a cooperation of the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund and Udayana University Denpasar/Bali)

  • The student initiative SIFE (www.sife-ruhr-uni-bochum.de) supports us in developing our organizational structure. In weekly meetings, past projects and current processes are discussed and evaluated, resulting in a constant improvement of the efficiency of our work.

We ensure long-term success of our projects through thorough and detailed documentation.
All persons involved in our projects- from us as founders of our organization to the students members of our teams- work on a voluntary basis, which ensures that 100% of the monetary donations are passed on to the receivers.
